length Check

Length Check Plus My Hair Routine And Regimen

So I just started my healthy hair journey in December 2011.My last real relaxer stretch was from October 27, 2011 to April 4, 2012. I was ok, I was really trying to go until June 2012 but you know I just couldn’t wait I was itching like crazy to get another relaxer.
Next I’m going to do my relaxer stretch from now (April 5 2012 – August 2012)  well that is my plan. The whole point of me doing these long stretches is to avoid over processing my hair and damaging my scalp from so much frequent chemicals. So by limiting the amount of time I apply chemicals to my hair I’m reducing the chance of overlapping and over processing any previous relaxed hair. I’m also giving my hair and scalp some breathing room. Thus reducing breakage of hair strands.

So ok my length checks as been good so far ( on an average human hair grows half an inch per month, give or take depending on a few factors like genetics, diet, and health.) I’ve been able to keep my my ½ inch of growth  which is evident in the ends of my hair yay! You might not see any real length change now through the pictures above and also it is really early on in my healthy hair journey.
Here is a Snap Shot Of my Current Hair Regimen:

DAILY:
-Moisturize and sealing my hair ends with (water based moisturizer & Sealing with a natural oil(s) such as olive oil, coconut oil etc.)

-Criss cross wrapping my hair (this method drastically reduce breakage of my ends and promote length retention)
-Tying up my hair night
-Using my fingers to detangle my hair at first then using a large tooth comb
-Be really gentle with my hair.

 WEEKLY:
-Protecting my hair ends by wearing protective styles I do this honestly maybe 1-3 times a week it works for me you might have to do more.

-Cleaning my hair by shampooing, follow up with conditioner some times I put some oil in the conditioner to deep condition my hair.
-Rinse and add some leave-in conditioner

-Roller set. Some times I allow my hair to dry by air or I go sit under the hooded dryer (NO DIRECT HEAT. SUCH BLOW DRYING AND BRUSHING MY ENDS CAN YOU SAY BREAKAGE ANY ONE!)

Ok that’s it. Please feel free to share your hair care regimen for naturals, relaxed or transitioning.
1)   Is it working? Are retaining length? Are you having set backs? What products do you use? Etc.  your input and suggestion might help someone!

Ponytail Hair Weave

How To Do A Pony Tail Weave
 (Protective Style)
Are you on a healthy hair journey, and looking for a stylish protective style?

A ponytail hair weave extension is the way to go. This style is worn by a lot of African American ladies but certainly not limited to them alone. Other races can definitely sport this easy to do style. You are going to be absolutely amazed how easy it is to install it yourself.

Ponytail hair weave is perfect for those ladies who have really short hair cuts and want to switch it with up waiting months or even years for their hair to grow back out to do the style.

Or even my black ladies who are on a healthy long hair journey and are looking for a cute protective style to protect those precious hair ends from the elements.

Ok let’s Get To It!

Items You’ll Need:

Ø  Hair Weave / weft of hair   ( make it matches your own hair color)
Ø  Hair Gel  or  Mousse
Ø  Brush
Ø  Hair pins
Ø  Hair Scrunchi
Ø  Large Tooth comb

1.   Detangle your hair gently fingers working from the ends of your hair to the root.

2.   Use a large tooth comb to comb through hair and then add some hair gel around the perimeter of hair.

3.   Use a brush to brush, smooth, and gather hair. When it is all smooth out, take a scrunchi and secure the ponytail.

4.   Braid the ponytail and secure the end of the braid with a small rubber band. Roll the braid around the base of the ponytail and it with hair pins.

5.   Take the hair weave or weft of hair, fold it into half and put a hair pin in the loop.

6.   Place the  weft  of hair with the hair pin still in place in the center or middle of ponytail bun securely

7.   Now work your way around the first pin in a spiral motion. Each time you go around remember to secure with a hair pin. Do this until you reach the base of the bun and continue to do so until there is no more weave to wrap around. ( by start wrapping the weave from the center of the bun it fills in any gap that might be expose when the pontail moves )

8.   Now lift the ponytail hair up with one hand and with the other hand grab a small piece of hair from the bottom base of ponytail. Drop the ponytail hair from the other hand, still holding the small piece of hair. And wrap it around the base of the ponytail to cover up hair weave seam. And of course secure with hair pins

9.   Take the paddle brush and brush for neatness. And guess what you are DONE my dear!  That’s it!
